Click a map to plot coordinate points

Direct answer

What does this mapping tool do?

Each map click adds Point 1, Point 2, and so on at the clicked longitude and latitude. This session tool does not rename, move, undo, or delete individual points, so download before refreshing.

How click-to-plot works

Click an empty location on the live map to record that longitude and latitude. The tool names points in creation order.

  • The first click becomes Point 1, followed by Point 2 and so on
  • Clicks that hit the existing point layer are ignored
  • No address lookup or geocoding is involved
  • Clear all removes the complete current set

Example: collect coordinates for a draft

Use the tool to mark approximate entrances, photo viewpoints, or test points when clicking is faster than preparing a spreadsheet.

  • Zoom in before clicking when coordinate precision matters
  • Treat visual clicks as approximate unless checked against an authoritative source
  • Export a draft before doing any cleanup in another tool

What the downloads contain

CSV includes name, longitude, and latitude. GeoJSON includes one Point feature per click with the generated name.

  • Coordinates use longitude first in GeoJSON
  • Files represent the current in-memory point set
  • There is no image, share link, or saved MapsMaker project

Current editing limits

This lightweight page does not rename, move, undo, reorder, paste coordinates, or remove individual points.

  • Use Clear all and click again when the draft is wrong
  • Use Pin Map when each address needs a label, color, and individual removal
  • Use the full editor for rich records and ongoing changes

Session and map-network behavior

Points stay in browser component state and disappear on refresh. The point data is created locally, while the basemap still loads normal map resources over the network.

  • Download CSV or GeoJSON before leaving
  • Do not rely on browser Back or refresh as a save mechanism
  • Verify the downloaded coordinates before operational use
